Episode 13 - Karen Hammad

Just prior to heading up to Papua New Guinea to consult for the World Health Organization on the spread of COVID-19 in that country, Dr Karen Hammad joins us to talk about disaster management in the ED.

A fellow of the College of Emergency Nursing Australasia (CENA), Karen is an emergency nurse researcher who is passionate about preparing individuals, healthcare workers and health care organisations for disasters and other high visibility events. During our chat we talk about Karen's career in nursing, research and consulting with organisations such as WHO. We also get Karen's thoughts on our preparedness for the current pandemic and future disasters.

I hope you enjoy our chat with Karen (and Siri!) as much as we did, and remember what Karen said - "read the plan".
